We are looking for writers who have something to say and the craft to say it.
Saturday Review publishes essays, criticism, reported pieces, and archival work across the full range of human inquiry — science, technology, literature, the arts, philosophy, and the question of how a life ought to be lived.
We value clarity over jargon, argument over assertion, and the particular over the generic. We are not interested in hot takes. We are interested in the kind of thinking that requires time.

Pieces typically run 1,000–3,000 words. We do not accept unsolicited fiction at this time. We do accept poetry submissions.
Response time is 6–8 weeks. We read every submission. We cannot always respond to pitches that are not a fit, but we read them all.
Writers can pitch the Saturday Review through the pitch form at saturdayreviewmagazine.com/pitch. The magazine publishes essays and criticism across science, arts, letters, and public life, and maintains a House Style Guide for contributors, available on the site.
